Have your say on Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council's Housing Allocations Policy

Published: Monday 18 March 2019

Homesdirect is the Housing Register, operated by Newcastle Housing Advice (NHA) on behalf of the Council. The Housing Allocations Policy prioritises rehousing people in the greatest housing need.  We are now reviewing the Housing Allocations Policy due to changes to the new duties to homeless households brought in by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

The changes to the Council’s allocation’s policy have been developed with regard to these new duties and have also influenced by the desire to ensure that applicant’s on the Council’s housing register are given priority and appropriate information to enable the Council to help make the most effective use of social housing stock.

If you would like to have your say on the new Housing Allocations Policy, please complete the survey by clicking on the following link:

Published: Thursday 19 January 2017

If you are a Midland Heart tenant and you are in Band D (no housing need), any bid you make on another Midland Heart property will not generally be considered, unless the property has been advertised as an ‘Immediately Available Home’.

If you are a Midland Heart tenant and you are in Band A, B, or C, any bid you make on another Midland Heart property will only be considered if you can show evidence that you have been actively looking for a swap (mutual exchange), either through Homes Direct or in other ways.

Bidding cycles

Published: Tuesday 10 November 2015

Bidding cycle for properties to rent opens on Wednesday and closes on Sunday. You will not be able to bid for any properties for rent on Monday or Tuesday. If you are shortlisted for a property, your application will be assessed to ensure you have the correct priority on the housing register and you will be required to provide evidence in support of your application. This may lead to a change in your priority.
